If you are planning to revamp your bedroom, you would probably be thinking of warm, comforting colors or perhaps cool, calming colors. These are the shades we usually consider first for use in the bedroom. And, of course, there’s reason behind this kind of thinking. We don’t necessarily want the place we sleep in to be too stimulating; after all, in order to sleep well, we need to relax. And light, cool color schemes do work well in the bedroom for exactly that reason.
Liven Up Your Bedroom With Black And White Bedding
Sometimes, though, injecting a little fun into the space can be liberating and make the room somewhere we go not just to sleep but to chill out in, or just get away from other people in. You don’t have to repaint and refurnish the whole room in order to update and refresh the overall effect. What you want is something that will make your room stand out and say something about your personality. Black and white bedding can help do just that.
It goes without saying that the bed is the center of every bedroom. So, even if you do nothing more than invest in a new set of bed linen the change can be beneficial. Black and white bedding makes a real statement, and can bring the focus of the whole room onto the bed.
Zebra print bedding (with its bold black and white stripes), for instance, will really liven up the room and give it a modern, exotic feel. You might like to extend this by adding a picture of an African landscape on the wall, or a zebra striped rug by the side of the bed. Gingham, on the other hand, even in monochrome shades, will make it feel homely and comforting, while still making the bed itself stand out from the rest of the room. And squares, plain stripes, or spots on a set of black and white bedding give it a very clean, modern (some might say more masculine) feel than, say, plain colors or floral patterns.
You could even choose to stick with plain colored linen, but combine black and white elements for a really strong look. For example, black sheets which, to many people, suggest a student bedroom or a bachelor pad, when paired with white pillowcases and a white valance, can look really cool and on-trend in a modern home – especially if they’re offset with simple, modern accessories such as chrome and glass. Or you can soften the effect by going with more traditional wooden furnishings.
Black and white bedding bedding sets still makes a statement, and says ‘modern, confident, and stylish’ of its owner or owners.
So, take the plunge, have a look around and find some black and white bedding that suits your own personal taste. There’s a whole lot more to choose from than you might think! And, whether you go for bold, geometric patterns, large areas of plain color a more gentle injection of monochrome with gingham, or even flowered or foliage based patterns, the eye of the person entering the room will be drawn to the bed itself – the heart of the bedroom. Which is exactly as it should be.
